Sherri Shepherd’s Dance to a Fit Body!

You may have heard of various tips from people on how to avoid a sedentary lifestyle during the pandemic. It might’ve been easier to just get lazy and remain in our beds since work and studies became possible to do in one place but with the gift of hindsight, we all know how harmful that kind of life is. 

To a lot of people, it became an opportunity for them to slim down or build some muscle and one of them is Sherri Shepherd. In addition to Shepherd’s graceful ageing, the 53-year-old American actress, comedian, author, and television personality showed off her beautiful figure on a post on Instagram, sparking questions about what she did.

Shepherd enjoys Zumba! Working out by lifting weights and doing sets of exercises may be too tedious or boring to some so that’s where Zumba comes in. By integrating dance into your routine, you won’t even feel your calories burning and the time moving. 

“I was 197 pounds, sitting on my couch, eating pizza and watching infomercials…This infomercial for Zumba showed up and I couldn’t get to my credit card fast enough! I knew it was time,” she revealed to People.

In order to prevent her from feeling boredom, Shepherd changes things up and practices roller skating sometimes. As a means to tone up and get some time outdoors, she started the funky activity in April 2021 and has been on it since. 

“I am determined to step out of my comfort zone & learn to skate! Who wants to take their skates out & join me!” she asked fans.

Believe it or not, eating out may be a lot more convenient than cooking for yourself but learning how to regularly do the latter will benefit you more in the long run. Shepherd decided to do herself a favour and stopped being too reliant on takeouts during the pandemic. By cooking for herself regularly, she is able to watch her calories more closely. 

“I’m trying to be more intentional about what I cook and what I eat…to maintain my weight loss,” she explained. Her go-to recipes include Shrimp with curry powder, turmeric, lemon pepper, garlic, and salad with avocado. If you’re looking into cooking for yourself as well, consider consulting with your doctor to see if you can keep enjoying similar foods that you’ve liked before.

Shepherd learned to stay away from sugar after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2007. She has always regulated her carb intake but it took her a while to completely say goodbye to sugary foods. 

“I went off #sugar #coldturkey in Mar 2018 and starred #keto appx June/July 2018,” she told her Instagram followers in 2019. “My weight last year I believe was 189 (too tired to look for the scale pics?) and now I go back and forth between 159-161lbs. My waistline was 47″ and it is now 35″ (Lord on my wishlist is 29″ waist … 27″ if you’re in a good mood???) just want to encourage you to take one step towards your health.”
